NewYorker10 - A real page turner!

This review is from: Bio-Jihad and the Pleasure-5 Surgery (A Dr. Michael Riker Novel) (Volume 1) (Paperback)

I know other people like the medical parts. How biology was turned into a weapon, and the frightening possibility of new kinds of surgery, and even “redesigning human sexuality.” The bioterrorism is very real. Really eye-opening

But I liked the political and geopolitical intrigue. You can tell the author probably has political experience, because the descriptions of meetings, dialogue, and situations are bang on. How ambition clouds judgement, how there are all these hidden persuaders out there.

Fast-paced, witty, and overall a COMPELLING BOOK. It gets you right from the start.

A real page turner giving us incredible insight into the world we live in today and its dangers. Also an incredible adventure ride with plot shifts coming at the most unexpected times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it

This review is from: BIO-JIHAD and the PLEASURE-5 SURGERY (A Dr. Michael Riker Novel) (Kindle Edition)

I love medical thrillers, and this one was top notch. You can tell that it's written by an MD, who goes into enough detail to scare you, but not so much like it's a textbook.

The characters are believable and cool. Dr. Michael Riker is head of the CIA Bioterrorism Division, and pieces together the clues about the attack.

I also like how the book is fast-paced, keeps moving across the globe, and gives you insights into a wide range of characters, places, and motivations.

The sexual stuff was wild. Kind of like a medical version of 50 Shades of Grey.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Page Turner

This review is from: Bio-Jihad and the Pleasure-5 Surgery (A Dr. Michael Riker Novel) (Volume 1) (Paperback)

I was introduced to this novel in my book club. COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. The
creepy action hits you right on page 1. The birth defects descriptions are
so powerful that I was terrified.

It's totally plausible too. Islamist sleeper cells infiltrate the US
Homeland and launch a bioterrorist attack.

Every chapter brings something new and exciting.

I was always rooting for the main character, Dr. Riker of the CIA
Bioterrorism branch. I like how he used his medical knowledge, all the while
keeping his fiancée and his girlfriend happy. I also loved to hate the
villain, Dr. Mond.

There are a lot of technology insights, and political insights. The way
Washington actually works.

Can't wait for the next in the series...this should be a movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating

I love to/need to read at night. This did the job. A very good book. I enjoyed following the main guy, Riker, through his science, women, and political escapades. This book is like the CIA meets Medicine. Lots of high tech, like robotic surgery, portable nukes, and nanotechnology.

Of course, Riker has love interest(s). And they keep him on his toes too.

Starts out fast, and just builds to the climax. A Great read overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-stop Suspense

This review is from: Bio-Jihad and the Pleasure-5 Surgery (A Dr. Michael Riker Novel) (Volume 1) (Paperback)

Great plot, lots of the unexpected. The bioterrorism deal is frightening. The action is non-stop, and never stops building suspense.

The characters, especially the two opposing doctors, Riker and Mond, were believable and human, with strengths and weaknesses. I'm a fan of this genre fiction, medical thrillers, and I stayed up a couple of nights to finish this. Glad I did. Thanks for a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid medical thriller

By

This review is from: Bio-Jihad and the Pleasure-5 Surgery (A Dr. Michael Riker Novel) (Volume 1) (Paperback)

The main villain, Dr. Omar Mond, cures heart attacks and other problems by cloning your own organs back into you. The organs happen to be radioactive, which trashes the DNA of people around you.

Very interesting premise, the whole biological slavery thing, harvesting organs from specially kept-alive "hosts." Kind of like the Robin Cook Coma thing. But this one goes in for the Islamist terrorists doing the evil deeds.

The plot bubbles all the time with new scenarios and different cities. A solid medical thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the bio stuff

This review is from: BIO-JIHAD and the PLEASURE-5 SURGERY (A Dr. Michael Riker Novel) (Kindle Edition)

A really interesting and well-written book. Modern-day slavery, medical tourism, dangerous organ transplants, so much happens in this novel.
The first page sees more than a dozen people captured to eventually become organ factories for Americans dying of heart disease and diabetes problems. That's where things get terrifying. Don't want to give away too much!
My brother, who is a plastic surgeon, loved the "cosmetic sexual upgrade" storyline. I didn't know people could actually have such operations. Live and learn.
There's never a dull moment in this novel. A real storm of a book. It went by so fast I couldn't believe it.
